Our Mission and History

Our mission is to enhance the Red Hook Pool experience by providing community input to New York City Department of Parks & Recreation. We seek a true partnership, benefiting both government agencies and the communities they serve, and working toward the common goal of achieving excellence and inclusivity in aquatic programming.  We believe access to swimming promotes fitness, mental health, and water safety education for all NYC residents.

On September 17th, 2025, at the request of Council Member Alexa Avilés, the Parks Department held a Parks Town Hall at the Red Hook (Sol Goldman) Recreation Center and accepted community input for the rebuild of the Red Hook Pool and Rec Center. The Rebuild is in the planning stage and will likely take 2 years beginning after the 2026 swim season.
